Burundi’s Trade Facilitation Portal

Through MARKUP, ITC and UNCTAD are working with Burundi Revenue Authority (OBR) to set up a national Trade Facilitation Portal (TFP). Following an initial training delivered to the Burundi Trade Portal Team in February 2020, ITC organised a training on advanced content management and administration of the Trade Portal. The TFP team, which is composed of representatives from the OBR, is leading the establishment and operationalisation of the portal.

After the 5-day training, participants gained deeper understanding of theoretical concepts and the use of tools identified to improve the presentation of the procedures documented on the portal. Further trainings for the team will follow also to ensure that the administration of the portal is in order.

The establishment of the portal will represent a key achievement for Burundi, which will join fellow EAC countries in their efforts to facilitate access to key trade information. Once ready, the portal will be included in the EAC Regional Trade Information Portal.
