MARKUP Joins the World in Marking World Youth Skills Day
With funding from the European Union (EU), the Market Access Upgrade Program (MARKUP) Kenya joins the rest of the world in marking this year’s World Youth Skills Day. MARKUP Kenya is implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in partnership with the government and the private sector.
In Kenya, the youth account for 38.9 percent of the unemployed population. The unemployment situation has been worsened by the Covid19 pandemic, which has caused losses of jobs across many sectors, including agriculture.
This year’s theme for the day is ‘Skills for a Resilient Youth in the Era of Covid-19 and Beyond’. In this line, MARKUP endeavors to stimulate wealth and employment for the youth.
