EU Ambassador appreciates MARKUP contributions in Tanzania
On 6 October 2020, European Union (EU) Ambassador to Tanzania and the EAC, HE Manfredo Fanti, visited Med Foods Arusha, a Tanzanian enterprise benefiting from the EU-funded MARKUP.
International Trade Centre through MARKUP began supporting Med Foods Arusha in 2019 and enabled it to improve the company’s capacity to access finance, develop export strategies and improve quality of its products. The company is also benefitting from coaching by the Quality Champions. With the support of the MARKUP-trained quality experts, the company is upgrading and improving its food systems across the entire production process. The company produces spices, supplying to the Tanzanian market as well as neighbouring Kenya.
Going forward, MARKUP’s focus will be on ensuring that the quality of Tanzania’s export products grows and that companies obtain the needed certifications to access new markets.
