MARKUP Concludes Joint Monitoring Missions in Tanzania and Kenya
The EU-EAC MARKUP Programme Coordination Unit (PCU), together with the EAC Secretariat, National Steering Committee members led by the National Focal Point and MARKUP implementing agencies, carried out joint monitoring and data verification missions for Tanzania between 22 and 27 November and Kenya between 13 and 18 December 2021. The teams visited SMEs, Government agencies and Trade and Investment Support Institutions that have benefitted from the Programme.
For accurate and consistent reporting, the PCU is mandated to support the EAC Secretariat in conducting verification missions through field visits for both the EAC and the Partner States Windows. The key objectives of these missions are to verify that data gathered and fed into the MARKUP monitoring system is as accurate and consistent as possible, as well as to monitor results, including unintended results, risks and assumptions. The Joint Monitoring Missions also identify best practises for replication and up-scaling.
The joint mission for Rwanda and Uganda is planned for March 2022, followed by Burundi in April 2022.
